Corner Bookmark Tutorial

I'm so excited to share with you my first tutorial. Being my first one, it is an easy project, so if I inadvertently leave out any steps, you can still figure it out. These corner bookmarks are so cute and so quick and simple to make.

For this project, you'll need: Scrapbook paper, paper cutter, ruler, glue stick and embellishments.

Step 1: Cut a strip of scrapbook paper about 3" x 7" long. You can probably make it a little shorter than 7" but that's the size I cut. If you make it less than 3" wide, your triangle will be a little smaller so experiment with the size, and see what you like best.

Step 2: On the back side of the paper, find the center of your paper length. Since my length is 7", I measured to 3 1/2" and make a mark. How do you like my Tinkerbell ruler and my glittery, sparkly pencil? :)
Step 3: Fold down the right side of the paper to the center mark you made. (*Note: if you're using any border punches, you should punch those now before you fold and glue your paper)
Step 4: Now fold down the left side, only make your fold come past the center mark a wee bit. In other words, don't butt this fold up next to the first one, you need to have a little bit of overlap so you can glue it together.
Step 5: It should look something like this when you turn it over.

Step 6: Now trim off the excess flaps with your paper trimmer so you have a perfect triangle.

Step 7: Now go ahead and glue the 2 flaps together being careful not to get any glue on the inside of your bookmark.

Step 8: Add your embellishments. Ribbons, buckles, monograms, chipboard flowers, pictures, border punches, you name it. This is the fun part, where you get to personalize your bookmark. Maybe it's for your cookbook - add some fun food stickers. Maybe it's for your Bible, whoever or whatever book your bookmark is for, you can find a sticker for just about any theme at the craft store.

Here are a few I made in just an hour or so.

You're sure to get lots of compliments on your bookmarks! They are a beautiful and personal way to hold your place... and they make a nice anytime gift.
